Beyond the EU Bubble: EAC Spring Meeting 2019 in Banja Luka

On 19 March 2019, EAC’s latest member AMS RS has hosted the association’s bi-annual General Assembly within its premises in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In particular, the guests had the huge pleasure and honour to meet with Nedeljko Čubrilović, former Minister of Transport and present president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, resulting into a fruitful exchange on pressing issues in the transport, notably the automobile sector. EAC president Bernd Opolka firmly recollected that within his active years as ARCD's Secretary General since the 1970s the number of road fatalities in Germany has been continuously decreasing from around 21,000 people killed in traffic accidents per year down to around 3,000 road casualties per year. Germany's - and most other European countries' - set example was Sweden, which it followed successfully. He also underlined the significant role of all the automobile clubs in this success story. AMS RS Secretary General Ranko Babić agreed and also highlighted the importance of the EAC membership for AMS RS paving the way for the crucial transfer of best practices and experiences across borders. All participants approved with renewed vigour to continue the joint efforts to increase road safety and reduce the number of casualties on European roads.

EAC is signatory of the European Road Safety Charter contributing to a solid and sound road safety network in Europe.
